Willie Nelson has released his new album, “That’s Life”, a homage to his friend Frank Sinatra. It’s the second Sinatra tribute album from Nelson following 2018’s “My Way” which earned him the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Willie Nelson and Frank Sinatra have enjoyed a great friendship over the years and these albums are Nelson’s way of honoring his late friend. Most of the album was recorded at Hollywood’s Capitol Studios, the same studio where Sinatra recorded his most-loved albums during the 1950s. Nelson sounds cheerful on “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and pairs up with Diana Krall on “I Won’t Dance”. Title track “That’s Life” is the most country among these jazzy recordings, while lead single “Cottage For Sale” is the highlight of the LP. The 87-year-old provides each song with a rendition that retains the style and spirit of Sinatra. Willie Nelson, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Pop Awards 2020, is still one of the most prolific artists and his musical ambitions remain resilient at this age.
