Mayita Dinos – The Garden Is My Stage

Jazz singer Mayita Dinos has released her debut LP, entitled “The Garden Is My Stage”. The Puerto Rican music enthusiast who lives in California is not only an incredibly talented artist but also a successful landscape designer with a profound appreciation for nature and all its gifts. With silky vocals, evocative compositions and wonderfully descriptive lyrics, “The Garden Is My Stage” is a unique and beautifully verdant listening experience which blossoms organically. The 13-track record launches into graceful flight with the flute-soused, samba-flavored tune “Ornithology”, co-written by Dinos herself. The album features a selection of naturistic songs, including a reimagined version of Stevie Wonder’s “Come Back As A Flower”, Thelonious Monk’s “Pannonica”, and Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Double Rainbow”, each perfectly transcendent with feathery melodies and easy piano undertones. Mayita Dinos also succeeds in doing justice to Joni Mitchell’s guitar-strung “Woodstock”, Jorge Drexler’s soothing ode to the Uruguay River titled “Un País Con El Nombre De Un Río”, and the 1960’s classic “Spanish Harlem”, all raising the bar of this exceptional record.
