Rock musician and producer Joe Satriani has released his 17th studio album, entitled “Shapeshifting”. The collection joins a shedload of other works by the 63-year-old native of New York State, including several live and compilation albums, as well as collaborative projects like those of supergroup Chickenfoot. With over ten million albums sold, Satriani is the best-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time. The 15-time Grammy-nominee has toured with acts such as Mick Jagger and Deep Purple. On “Shapeshifting”, Satriani explores a new path as he musically shapeshifts on each track. From the enticing African beats of “Ali Farka, Dick Dale, An Alien And Me” to the seductive pull of the jazz-inspired “Falling Stars”, Satriani manages to bring novelty to a career spanning four decades. Familiar stripes blaze through on the album’s lead single, “Nineteen Eighty”, a classic revisit to Satriani’s persona circa 1980. The record closes with the reggae-infused “Here The Blue River” and the whistling acoustic sweetener “Yesterday’s Yesterday”. For more info go to satriani.com
