Poetica
A unique musical project, called Poetica, has blossomed into a full-blown album that is available now. The self-titled record is a joint labor of love created by three-time Grammy-nominated cellist Dave Eggar and vocalist Rachael Sage who was nominated for Icon Of The Year at the 4th annual Pop Awards following the release of her latest solo LP, “Character”. During the lockdown, Sage wrote a large number of poems, 18 of which have been selected for her spoken-word album with Eggar. The collaborative project features a number of additional musicians and together they skillfully bring the music to life. Songs like the mystic “Passenger”, with Sage’s haunting lyrics repeated emphatically over bluesy guitar and harmonica, or the sad yet playful tango sounds of “Sleep When I’m Tired”, with trumpet, harmonica, and violin, have a mesmerizing power on the listener. “Poetica” is a beautiful fusion of voice and instrumentation in the spirit of Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith, and Laurie Anderson.
