Jessie Reyez – Before Love Came To Kill Us
Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez has released her debut studio album, titled “Before Love Came To Kill Us”. Born in Toronto to Colombian parents, the 28-year-old R&B artist is known for her piercingly unique vocals. Reyez admits that she finds her greatest inspiration to write in moments of pain and brokenness, a truth embodied in the title of her record. “Before Love Came To Kill Us” is an authentic, selfish reaction to the highs and lows of love that takes the venting path to healing. “Do You Love Her” and “Deaf (Who Are You)” aggressively jump at you as they start off the 14-track collection. Luckily, “Intruders” and “Coffin” are uncharacteristically welcomed to offer the smoother, softer versatility of Jessie Reyez’s voice, if only momentarily before Eminem disrupts the peace again on the latter. The singles “Imported” and “Love In The Dark” are two of the few standout tracks on an album that largely misfires. For more info go to jessiereyez.com
