Kandace Springs – The Women Who Raised Me
Jazz and soul singer Kandace Springs has released her third LP, “The Women Who Raised Me”. The NYC-based artist from Nashville was introduced to music and the piano by her father, vocalist Scat Springs. Kandace immersed herself in jazz and soul music and drew inspiration from some of the greatest contributors to these genres. “The Women Who Raised Me” is Springs’ tribute album to artists whom she praises for helping her find her voice. The record features delightful renditions of songs like Sade’s “Pearls”, Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor”, and Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly With His Song”. Diana Krall’s “Gentle Rain” is reinterpreted with an inviting new sound while Ella Fitzgerald’s “Angel Eyes” is delicately reawakened with the help of Norah Jones. Songs made famous by Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Dusty Springfield are also featured on this covers album. Kandace Springs has enlisted acclaimed jazz musicians including David Sanborn (alto saxophone), Chris Potter (tenor saxophone), and Avishai Cohen (trumpet) for the recording. The project was produced by Larry Klein who also produced her 2016 debut album, “Soul Eyes”. For more info go to kandacesprings.com
